The indigenous organizations and federations of the Achuar people are engaged in activities to protect the environment and their territory and strengthen their ancestral cultures, with financial assistance from non-governmental organizations and foundations.
One example is work to improve water quality in the Abanico del Pastaza area and the Corrientes River. The goal is to improve the quality of water that is affected by petroleum operations. The project involves monitoring to ensure that in the future the water will be fit for human consumption.
