Federation of Native Communities of the CorrientesRiver (Federación de Comunidades Nativas del Río Corrientes – FECONACO)
The Federation of Native Communities of the Corrientes River (FECONACO) was founded at a general assembly in the Native Community of Pampa Hermosa on June 10, 1991. The organization represents the native communities of the CorrientesRiver basin in the district of Trompeteros, in the province and region of Loreto. FECONACO has three objectives: defense of rights, promotion of respect for indigenous culture and values, and development of the indigenous people and communities that it represents.
FECONACO represents three indigenous peoples — the Achuar, Kichwa and Uraninas — in a total of 30 native communities.
